I am Jikhariya Digal, Dambuli, victim of Kandhamal Communal Violence, 2008. During the Communal Violence, 2008 our houses were set on fire and livestock and household items looted. We escaped to jungle and saw our houses burning in flames. We could just watch this terrible scene as our shelter was incinerated to ashes. We were frightened and had to stay in forest for 2 nights and 3 days. The monsoons washed the jungle and we were completely drenched with our baby girl and no food or eatables or water. We went to another village in Kudupakia and then after few days we went to Relief Camp.
The Relief Camp continued for 3 months and the Government sent us back with just a tarpaulin. All these years we hoped that we could receive some compensation from Government for our houses, but all in vain. We then knew that India Evangelistic Association, an Organization based in Cuttack is providing houses for victims in Kandhamal. We approached their Project Coordinators and Facilitators and they enlisted us in the program fold after having surveyed us thoroughly. We could see our house being built to Roof Level. Bricks, Sand, Cement, Asbestos, Hooks and Nut Bolts and Labour Mason Payment were provided in time. We were awaiting completion and finishing of our houses.
Plastering of Outer Walls and Inner Walls is in action. Plywood, Colour, Chips and other hardware were being provided to bring our house to completion. We are grateful for the benevolent help from IEA for providing hope and shelter in the most difficult times of our living. Thanking IEA once again for what they have done for us and Praise God for showering blessings to us.
