Child Care & Support Program

Background of the Project:-

"Child Care Centre", whether home based stay or day care centre, must continue to encourage and impact Children belonging to the Institution to improve their healthy and safe growth.  Meanwhile, those Institutions whom India Evangelistic Association have been sponsoring has always been putting its best to ensure children get exposed to quality Education, get promoted to higher classes and admission in the schools for the betterment of their Academics and All Round Development.

As they have been growing physically and mentally, their cognitive sphere is getting broaden to wider dimension and they are in the right age of learning something new and enhance their mental horizon so as to become living and contributory instrument to their lives, families and society at large.

Child Care & Support program is ensured on a day-to-day basis whereby teachers appointed and the wardens facilitate this off school support program. Since these children are in the growing stage, facilitation of moral lesson apart from formal schooling has been felt as the topmost need at this modern age. Moral lessons are taught in the form of stories, case studies and examples taken up from different Holy Scriptures so as to make the children God loving and keep themselves away from evil doing.

The children are fed with nutritional diets ensuring balanced food for them so that the children remain healthy and stout throughout the year, except seasonal indifferences, of getting mildly infected by cold and conjunctivitis on a transient time.  Overall, the children are growing neck and neck with the age led-socialization process which is being taught to them and children are imbibing it to be grown as full human beings in the society. 

Apart from these children, the families and dear and near ones of these children have been getting benefits directly or indirectly. The same quality support has been extended throughout the academic year thus far with the support and cooperation of the supporting agency.

 

Goal:-

Increase psycho-physical and educational potentiality among the children and move towards quality and dignity of life.

a) To facilitate and care for children providing shelter home

b) To facilitate quality of food, clothes and sanitary kit for good health

c) To support educational apparatus with skilled tuition teacher for quality education

d) To support entrepreneurial skill building (music, dance, song etc. for creating concentration on education and quality in development.

 

Activities:-

a) Care and support for children survival (Children home, food, clothes and accommodation)

b) Support for sanitary kits to all children

c) Education support for quality education (Education materials, fees for school and tuition)

d) Inter personal skill building training (music, dance and other extra-curricular activities).

 

Strategies:-

a) The children are provided with 4 Times good food starting from breakfast to dinner

b) The total building has been provided with basic sanitary facilities and good living environment

c) There is a separate tuition for children where the teacher is imparting training for music, dance, and prayer practice and tuition.

d) There is a weekly program for the children such as individual counselling, observation of events of importance and sometime play to improve the psycho – social aspects.

 

1. Care and Support for Children Survival   

1.1. Today’s children are the hope and aspiration of Nation building for which they need adequate amenities; they not only need good health but also healthy mind and spirit. In order to ensure these healthy living standards, the implementing organization has been rightly providing all sorts of facilities to these children. Providing essential logistics to these victim children like food, cow milk to all the children, clothes, blankets, utensils, mattresses, essential health and hygiene commodities like bathing soap, washing soap, mosquito nets, tooth paste, tooth brush, hair oil, shampoo, nail cutter etc. with attached sanitary toilets.

1.2. At times children fall sick and get various physical ailments for which proper diagnose is carried out followed by availing medicines for cure of various sickness and ailments. Since some of these children are from malaria prone Areas, every child has been given adequate protective and preventive measures with clean water, use of mosquito net, use of good night coil and all these are provided to these children on a daily basis.

1.3. All studies and no game lead a child to sense of feeling boredom. Therefore the implementing agency with the support of supporting agency, children have been provided with basic sports and game equipment to these children, like football, volley ball, throw ball, badminton, carom board, chess, noddle etc. etc.

1.4. As part of swatch Bharat mission, Children are entrusted with Campus Cleaning, cleaning their own bed room, toilet cleaning and all that are under taken on a regular basis.

 

2. Support for Sanitary Kits to all Children

2.1. The majority of the women and girls have no access to clean and safe sanitary products, or to a clean and private space in which to change menstrual cloths or pads and to wash. Menstruation is supposed to be invisible and silent, and sometimes, menstruating women and girls are supposed to be invisible and silent, too.

2.2. Millions of girls and women are subject to restrictions in their daily lives simply because they are menstruating. Besides the health problems due to poor hygiene during menstruation, the lack or unaffordability of facilities and appropriate sanitary products may push menstruating girls temporarily or sometimes permanently out of school, having a negative impact on their right to education. The best place to make an impact on improving the lives of girls and women is health and hygiene.

2.3. Usually these growing girl children were picked up from the remotest village areas. These children were ignorant of managing their own usual menstrual cycle with safety precaution.

2.4. The implementing organization with the intervention of female health workers sensitized the girls on to keep them neat and clean throughout this menstrual period.

2.5. In order to keep the girls physical safety, the implementing organization has been providing sanitary kit and these girls have been using it on regular basis.

2.6. Some of the girls do not have their cycle on regular basis and the person in charge consult these girls with doctors and medicines are taken as per the instruction.

 

3. Education Support for Quality Education (Education Materials, Fees for School and Tuition)

3.1. School failure penalises a child for life. The student who leaves school without completing upper secondary education has fewer life prospects. This can be seen in lower earning income that lead to unsustainable living style for long period. Educational failure also imposes high costs on society. Poorly educated people belonging to Low Economic Strata, limits their capacity to produce, grow and innovate for their own Children.

3.2. Those Girl children from the remotest areas seemed like potentially school dropped out. The implementing organization rightly identified them and brought them together and kept them in child care home, whereby every child feel at ease to teaching learning environment.

3.3. Children with different class got admitted in different schools.

3.4. The implementing organization has been providing scholastic materials like books, pens, paper etc., as a result of which children with all basic needs and amenities are able to devote themselves to studies well.

 

4. Extracurricular Activities

4.1. This constant initiative of both the partners has implanted hope and aspiration among the Children to do something productive and contributory in their lives and in the society.

4.2. With the  Educational Nurturing through Puzzles, Counting, Mathematics classes, teaching grammar, spoken English classes, hand writing practice, letter, essay, poem and report writing, educational games, chess, Ludo, learning musical instrument etc., children’s innate ideas are exhibited, level of understanding enhanced and above all the scope for overall development has been made easy and accessible.

4.3. Organizing Time Management Seminars, Educate and Encourage on Savings. Developing Reading habits, Reading Books, Learning on how to use the library, Magazines & newspapers, Media Education, General Knowledge, Sex Education, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Career Planning, Awareness on Abuse and rising atrocities against girls/women, Awareness programs among victim children about Child Protection Rights.

4.4. Conducting Monthly and Weekly Tests, Quizzes etc., Educational Visits to places of Educational importance and value for victim children.

4.5. Inter personal skill building training (music, dance and other curricular activities are facilitated to those who are potentially sound and interested).

 

5. Socio-Emotional Activities for children

5.1. Basic mannerism and etiquette has been facilitated to the inmate like how to eat, how to talk with an unknown people, with the seniors, with the authorities, saying thank you in case of receiving even the smallest favour, say sorry in case of any kind of fault made etc.

5.2. Guiding children to dress up neatly, maintain physical neatness and  love to plant trees in the family backyard or in the school campus or in community land or in the religious ground etc.

5.3. Teaching Discipline and moral Character and Helping Others.

5.4. Guiding children about their sponsors and letter writing to their sponsors.

5.5. Teaching on Relationships, Humility, faithfulness, Obedience, Good Behaviour, Socio-Emotional Competence (Mastering Emotions, Managing Conflicts, Interpersonal Relationships, Fighting Abuse, etc.) are the most invaluable human values which everyone has to embrace so as to live an enriched life.

5.6. Team Building Exercises through Prayer, Art and Drawing Competition, Sports like Skipping, Badminton, Flying Saucer, and Carom board, Music, Choir Singing, Devotional Songs Practice and Dance etc.

5.7. Take part in Inter Class Contest and Development- Skit, Drama and Dancing Competition.

5.8. Facilitate teaching on Personality Development and reaching personal goals.

5.9. Study on Social Issues and Special Counselling for Parents and Children.

5.10. Encouraged and facilitated the recreational Visits and Celebration of Special Occasions like Birthday Celebration, Christmas, New Year, Good Friday, Independence Day, Republic Day, Children’s Day, Teacher’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Leprosy Day, Literacy Day, Child Labour Day, No Tobacco Day, No Smoking Day etc. and spoke the importance of each of these day and its value in human lives.

 

6. Spiritual Development Activities:

6.1. Praying to God of any religions by each of the child is an essence of life to live a pure, peaceful and delightful life. The teachers and guide teach the children to love God and love their own neighbours. The teaching of Mother Teresa like service to mankind is the service to God should be the motto of every child. Children used to sit and pray early in the morning to their own God and towards the end of the day, thank God for the beautiful life and day.

6.2. Reading Holy Scriptures to draw moral lesson has been a regular practices the centre ensure.
