Santabhanja Digal

Santabhanja Digal

A victim of the communal riots of 2008, Santabhanja Digal lost all his property in the raging fire started by the rioters. His house was gutted completely. He could save nothing. Somehow he managed to escape the place to the nearby jungles with his family and friends.

They starved for two days living off whatever little they could forage. After two days they took shelter in a relief camp in a nearby area. However, their fear for life continued there as well which forced them to flee to Bhubaneshwar.

There Santabhanja did petty jobs to feed his family but it was far from enough. Luckily he came to learn about the Livelihood Restoration and Regeneration through driving skills building training program introduced by IEA. He took this opportunity to enroll for this training without any second thought.

Here he learnt about the profession and the advantages which would  produce handsome earning in the capital city. Satbhanja says, “I know I can’t return to my village due to fear and jeopardize of my life. I still continue to serve the Lord amidst crisis, because I know He has been my savior and strength and my life is completely surrendered to him. IEA has been a blessing to me and my friends during this crucial time.”
