Gamana Digal
Gamana Digal lives a content life with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. He lives in a respectable house. He smiles, laughs, roams about carefree and lives his life in abundance. However, things were not always the same for the septuagenarian.
Gamana’s was one of the many families that were displaced by the communal riots of 2008 in Odisha. They had to flee from their home with nothing but the clothes they wore. Soon Gamana and his family fell into the extreme depths of poverty.
This forced his 45 years old son Suresh to start doing odd chores for people. Suresh’s wife started working as an unskilled laborer. But even then they struggled to make ends meet. When volunteers from India Evangelistic Association met this family, they were shocked to see that they were deprived of even the basic amenities required for human habitation.
IEA immediately expedited the process of their rehabilitation. They were provided with a proper house for survival. Suresh even helped with the construction of the house. Suresh and his family have been thankful to IEA ever since.
